Part Time Faculty - Arabic

Highline College is recruiting for part-time faculty positions in the World Language Department for Fall Quarter, 2026. The Department has an interest in having the part time faculty positions filled by September 1, 2026 and will continue to accept applications until the positions have been filled.

Salary will depend upon the number of classes taught. Salary is based upon initial placement, work experience, and the number of assigned credits. The current salary range per credit hour is $1,275-$1,366. Please review the current collective bargaining agreement for additional information here (See 205 Part-time Faculty Placement and Salary).

Teaching: Primary assignment will be to teach courses in Arabic (on-line via zoom MTWTh); advise students in developing and monitoring their academic plans;

Service:Engage in department, division, and college initiatives; participate in shared governance; promote the college's values, and perform other contracted duties (for example, advisory committee participation, community outreach) as required;

Professional development:Maintain competence in teaching and the discipline through professional development.

  • Show commitment to student learning. This includes planning, organizing, and creating an interactive, cooperative, and mutually respectful learning environment, incorporating research-based practices to teaching and assessment.
  • Challenge learners intellectually. This includes encouraging students to ask questions, confront limits, recognize complexities, think critically, and challenge assumptions.
  • Practice culturally responsive instruction. This includes designing curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment that are relevant to students; valuing what students already know; and empowering students to demonstrate knowledge in multiple ways as appropriate for the discipline.
  • Communicate effectively. This includes conveying information and expectations clearly, listening carefully, encouraging students to communicate, and acting with respect, enthusiasm, and empathy toward students.
  • Demonstrate personal and professional integrity. This includes, but is not limited to, being professional, honest, and ethical in the selection and delivery of course content.
  • Assessment. Ability to assess student-learning outcomes and use assessment data to modify instruction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Teaching Arabic or related studies; OR
  • Experience teaching introductory courses in Arabic; AND
  • Evidence of language proficiency in Arabic.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

:
  • Masters in Teaching Arabic or related degree;
  • Community College teaching experience;
  • Experience/interest in teaching diversity and globalism courses relevant to Arabic studies;
  • Significant experience working in multicultural/diverse environment.
