Part-Time Faculty: ARL 131.1.2.3 Observational Drawing Workshop (Fall 2025)
The Department of Art within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a Part-Time Instructor to teach ARL 131 Observational Drawing Workshop, a one-credit hour, five-week workshop during the Fall semester, 2025. There are three workshops during the semester.
This course will introduce students to the foundations of observational drawing. Students will work from life to hone skills in sighting and measuring, gesture and mark-making, proportion, perspective, value, and composition.

Qualifications:
- MFA degree preferred.
- Teaching experience preferred.
- Ability to teach foundational level drawing to students at all skill levels.
Responsibilities:
- Teach class during assigned day and times.
- Maintain regular grading.
- Teach through demos.
- Teach about materials & techniques.
- Studio set up.
- Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
- Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.
- Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
- Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
- Meeting all designated class periods.
- If you are unable to meet your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute. You must also notify the department chair of your absence and of your plan to cover the class.
- Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
- Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner.
- Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
- Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
