Pay Range: $1,440 - $1,700 per credit hour
Pay Determination: Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months salary unless otherwise specified.

Job Description:
The Department of Drama within the College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks a Part-Time Instructor to teach DRA 451 Theater Immersion and Analysis, a three credit hour course as part of the Tepper Semester in New York, during the Spring semester, 2026. This course will meet on Fridays from 10:00am - 12:00pm, with Tuesday and Thursday evening theater watching.
Seeking an instructor to lead one section of the course that is designed to introduce students to New York Theater scene and teach them how to become aware of the distinctions between: opinion, review, critique and analysis. To develop critical thinking skills, to deepen our understanding of how productions are made.
Students will practice these skills by attending all assigned productions and participating in our weekly class. Class discussions will focus on identifying the intention of each production and discussing whether or not the intention was fulfilled. Discussions and exercises will help us understand artistic decision making Students will be encouraged to expand their artistic aesthetic. Students will be encouraged to be generous humans.

Qualifications:
- Advanced Degree in Theater, MFA preferred.
- 4+ years teaching experience, familiarity with New York and international theater scene.
Job Specific Qualifications:
- Ability to lead discussions and guide students through different modalities of analysis.
- Ability to create respectful and open environment where opinions can be shared.
Responsibilities:
Tech one section of the course and attend performances with students up to twice a week.
In addition:
- Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
- Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.
- Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
- Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
- Meeting all designated class periods.
- If you are unable to meet your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute.
- You must also notify the department chair of your absence and of your plan to cover the class.
- Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
- Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner.
- Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
- Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
