Job Information

This is a part-time faculty pool for available assignments during the academic year and may include summer term work. This position works closely with other Early Childhood education faculty to provide high-quality instruction in a comprehensive program of both theory and practical experience designed to prepare graduates to work with young children in a variety of settings. The program goal is to provide students with a broad understanding of theoretical perspectives, methodologies, and content knowledge appropriate to the professional early childhood educator.

This recruitment is for instructors who will serve our Woodburn Center in Woodburn, OR, and/or Yamhill Valley Campus in McMinnville, OR and/or Polk Center in Dallas, OR and/or our Salem Campus in Salem, OR.

Duties & Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Instruction:

  • Teaches classes as assigned, following current approved course outlines and meeting the standards of the Early Childhood Education program outcomes.
  • Meets during scheduled class times
  • Prepares and develops materials for assigned classes/labs according to program expectations
  • Provides students with class syllabi
  • Delivers course content using appropriate methods for student needs and program curriculum
  • Delivers instruction in a variety of modalities to meet program and student needs including face-to-face, remote, hybrid, and/or online

Course Management & Student Success:

  • Provides a classroom environment conducive to learner growth
  • Understands, develops, and provides a learning environment that supports student success
  • Maintains student records of grades and attendance in accordance with college procedures
  • Responds to student inquiries and provides feedback in a timely manner
  • Communicates available college resources to students

Instructional Program Responsibilities:

  • Maintains timely communication with college program and supervisor
  • Stays current on program goals, processes and outcomes
  • Participates in program assessment and college accreditation

Teaching and Learning Values:

Candidate Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human Development, or Education (with an emphasis in Human Development, Early Childhood Education, Child Development) or closely related field with at least 24 graduate credit hours in relevant Early Childhood Education coursework -AND-
  • Experience teaching in a variety of modalities including face-to-face, remote, hybrid, and/or online -AND-
  • Bicultural/multicultural skills sufficient to select appropriate behaviors, values and attitudes within different cultures during interactions with others

Core Competencies

  • Demonstrable experience providing culturally responsive instruction
  • Bicultural/multicultural skills sufficient to select appropriate behaviors, values and attitudes within different cultures during interactions with others
  • Embraces diversity and actively collaborates effectively with a variety of students, staff and the public from diverse cultural, social, economic and educational backgrounds
  • Actively participates in the retention and recruitment of students
  • Embraces appropriate technology tools to accomplish job functions; understands and utilizes available technology as communication and data gathering tools including willingness to learn online teaching technology

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of successful teaching experience with young children from birth to age 6
  • One year of successful teaching experience with adult learners
  • English/Spanish Bilingual

Additional Information

Terms of Employment:

  • Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends
  • This position belongs to the bargaining unit and begins at Step 1. Please refer to current salary schedules here for more information.
  • All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college.
  • Requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire
  • Employees must maintain Oregon, Washington or Idaho residency as a condition of employment.
  • Recently hired faculty are expected to participate in a new faculty orientation program
  • Successful applicants for designated positions must successfully pass a background inquiry, which may include criminal, driving, credit and full background checks. Physical Requirements

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary requirements are met.
