Part-time Faculty, Student Teaching/Pre-Clinical Supervisor- Teacher Education
Supervises the student teacher according to department syllabus; mentoring, observing, and evaluating the student teacher; working as a liaison between the Office of Student Field Experiences and school personnel; attending all supervisors' meetings and trainings; and guiding the cooperating teacher with the student teaching experience. Areas of supervision may include early childhood; middle childhood (science, math, language arts, social studies); adolescent/young adult (math, science, social studies, language arts); and/or special education (mild/moderate).
Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.
Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday. Able to travel to any of the districts in the following counties: Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana, Mercer, and Lawrence.
Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: Certified/licensed in K-12 teaching field in which supervision occurs; valid driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of: effective instructional skills and pedagogical content; professional practice identified in the Ohio Resident Educator Mentor Standards.
Skill in: Using assessment data to monitor student learning and provide feedback.
Ability to: Use different instruction methods; effectively mentor adults.
Minimum Qualifications: Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. At least a bachelor's degree in education (K-12 teaching field); ten or more years of teaching experience (K-12 teaching field); three or more years of experience mentoring student teachers or teacher candidates in the field; certified/licensed in K-12 teaching field in which supervision occurs; minimum fifty hours of documented professional development within past ten years; valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications: Trained mentor; knowledge of the Resident Educator Summative Assessment (RESA) and/or Education Teacher Preparation Assessment (edTPA); completed OTES training and/or other evaluator training; recent P-12 teaching and/or administrative experience; knowledge of technology used in teaching.
