Part Time Instructor - Northern Nevada Student Teaching Supervisor
Job Description
Nevada State University actively maintains an open pool of qualified individuals to be selected on an as-needed basis by the department to fulfill part-time temporary instructional needs and applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Nevada State invites applications for an open pool of adjunct faculty for in-person student teaching supervision in multiple Northern Nevada counties.
Applications will be considered on an as-needed basis determined by course availability.
Adjunct faculty members are compensated at the rate of $1,000 per credit hour. Courses range from 1-6 credits.
Core Responsibilities:
- Ensure the quality of the student teacher(s)' placement experience in various Northern Nevada counties.
- Conduct a total of eight (8) visits to each student teacher throughout their placement period.
- Conduct formal observations during each visit to the student teacher.
- Foster a cooperative relationship and maintain regular communication with district teachers.
- Act as the official liaison between the district school and Nevada State University School of Education.
- Conduct mid-term and final evaluations of the student teacher(s).
- Collaborate closely with the Nevada State University Director of Partnerships and Field Experiences and the Coordinator of Northern Nevada Programs.
- Attend designated seminar classes as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in teaching area.
- Minimum of three (3) years full-time experience teaching children in K-12.
- Evidence of a strong commitment to teaching, educational excellence, and mentoring undergraduate students.
- Effective interpersonal, communication, and technology skills.
- Commitment to active learning and teaching strategies.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
