Part Time Instructor - Theatre Arts
Job Summary
Perform Part-Time operations of the instructional program in theatre arts.
Principal Accountabilities
- Teach Theatre Arts classes as assigned by the Dean, Assistant Dean or Department Head. Classes will be held on the Brenham Campus but could also be taught elsewhere.
- Provide instruction for courses at a variety of times and locations.
- Demonstrate a commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellence.
- Maintain regular office hours and access to students through posted office hours and electronic communication.
- Prepare and utilize a course syllabus and assessments for each course using guidelines established by the institution.
- Maintain current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies, delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resources.
- Evaluate students' performance through a variety of means to measure progress and keep them informed in a timely manner.
- Assist in the development, distribution and collection of assessments for courses and program objectives.
- Provide recommendations to the Academic Dean, Assistant Dean, Department Heads, and Curriculum Resource Team regarding curriculum.
- Demonstrate a positive and professional relationship with students, colleagues, college administration, and the community.
- Submit timely college reports and forms to the appropriate divisions/departments.
- Exhibit a commitment to lifelong learning through participation in professional development activities.
- Possess a passion for teaching community college students.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and orally.
- Responsible for other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree with at least 18 graduate hours in theatre arts.
Must be able to pass required background checks for Blinn and background checks and/or finger printing for any external facilities, per their requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to teach Film Appreciation, Theater Appreciation, any other DRAM classes
- Experience in costume design/fabrication in addition to other technical theater areas
- College level teaching experience desirable
- Experience with Distance Education, including Quality Matters Certification
Special Notes To Applicants
- Teaching assignments for this position will have face-to-face instruction on the Brenham Campus. Even if the class modality includes a Distance Education component, selected candidates will be required to make said travel. Any candidate not willing to travel will not be considered.
