Part-time Project Coordinator & Research Assistant, Level 1 (Spring 2026) - Dr. Nicole Perez
Position Description:
NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing seeks a part-time Project Coordinator/Research Assistant to assist with an engaging interdisciplinary research program focused on depression among women with chronic illness. The Project Coordinator/Research Assistant will facilitate communication with data cleaning, dissemination, and communication with interdisciplinary teams within and outside of NYU.
Responsibilities:
- Administrative & Operational Support:
- Provide on-going support for assigned research projects.
- Maintain project files and documentation.
- Facilitate communication and task assignment across team members
- Communications:
- Coordinate communications, including social media content and promotional materials
- Serve as liaison and coordinate with team members at other institutions
- Research Support & Project Coordination:
- Collect, enter and maintain research data.
- Coordinate meetings
- Monitor project progress
- Assist with manuscript and abstract preparation and submission
- Data Support
- Provide assistance with data cleaning
- Generating tables and figures in R for publication
Position Details:
Approximate Start and End Dates:This is a part-time, one-year appointment (based on start date), with the possibility of continuation and extension based on performance, mutual agreement, and the availability of continued funding.
Appointment Type: Part-time, fixed-term, grant-funded position.
Expected Work Hours:20 hours per week with some flexibility.
Location: Hybrid. The position requires at least two days of in-person work per week, including field-based research activities and College-designated common in-person days.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is $30. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
Required Skills:
- Experience and knowledge with the MACS/ WHIS study
- Experience with clinical research and study operating procedures
- Experience with using R and RedCap
- Strong computer and technical skills, including MS Office software
- Ability to review and understand study protocols and other clinically related materials
- Must be self-motivated, flexible, organized, detail-oriented, have strong verbal and written communication skills, be able to work independently and on a team, and handle multiple priorities
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Education: Master’s degree
Required Experience:
- Basic experience in data cleaning, descriptive statistics, and linear regression
- Experience with the dissemination of scientific posters, presentations, or papers
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with the analysis of large longitudinal datasets
- Experience in publishing scientific papers
- Experience designing tables and figures for publication and presentation
Minimum Qualifications:
- Enthusiasm for learning and commitment to rigor in research
- Self-motivated and with resourceful problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented and have superior organization skills
- Ability to work on an interdisciplinary team and handle multiple priorities
- Strong literature review and writing skills
- Highly proficient in the Microsoft Office suite
- Experience with statistical analysis and creating figures in R
Preferred Qualifications:
- General knowledge of medical, psychological, and scientific terminology
- Strong computer and technical skills
- Critical appraisal skills and synthesis of scientific literature
- Skills in data analysis and interpretation
- Proficiency in R and Stata
- Adaptability, initiative, and strong interpersonal communication skills
- Strong time management and ability to balance competing priorities
- Ability to translate complex data into clear summaries and visuals
