Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship - Mathematics (ad)
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County(UMBC), invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship beginning in fall 2026. We particularly welcome candidates with research interests in numerical methods for the optimal control of partial differential equations.
The appointment is for a fixed term, but it is renewable upon satisfactory performance and funding availability. Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. in applied mathematics, with an emphasis on computational methods, or a closely related field, by the start date.
The successful candidate will pursue an active research program, collaborate with faculty, and seek external funding. The position includes a reduced teaching load.
Candidates should demonstrate expertise in at least two of the following areas: numerical analysis of partial differential equations, optimization, numerical linear algebra, and continuum mechanics.
