This position primarily assists with clinical trial data collection and coordination.

Project Title: Adaptive Dietary Intervention for Asian Americans with Type 2 Diabetes

Position Details:

  • Approximate Start and End Dates: January 2026 to August 31, 2028
  • Expected Work Hours: Part-time, Fixed-term Position with 10 - 20 hours per week.

Summary of study: The overall objective of the study is to evaluate the feasibility of using CGM for dietary management for Asian Americans with type 2 diabetes.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate, manage, and assist with document preparation and data collection efforts related to participant activities (e.g., recruitment, screening, communications, scheduling assessments, administering questionnaire surveys, guiding participants to the appropriate use of continuous glucose monitor [CGM], individual interviews, etc.).
  • Assist participants to properly put on and take off the CGM, have expertise to ensure CGM use safety, have ability to assess adverse effect of wearing CGM, and have the knowledge and skills of downloading CGM data and report.
  • Assist with data collection, e.g., using ASA 24 for nutrition assessment.
  • Coordinate team meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality of participants and storage of confidential data.
  • Performs other tasks as needed.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is $30. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

Required Skills:

  • Experience and knowledge with informed consent procedures.
  • Experience with clinical research and study operating procedures.
  • Experience with using ASA 24 for nutrition assessment.
  • Strong computer and technical skills, including MS Office software and statistical software programs (e.g., RedCap, SPSS, ATLAS.ti preferred).
  • Ability to review and understand study protocols and other clinically related materials.
  • Experience in collecting research data.
  • Must be self-motivated, flexible, organized, detailed-oriented, have strong verbal and written communication skills, be able to work independently and on a team, and handle multiple priorities.
  • Experience of taking care of persons with diabetes preferred. Experience of using CGM in clinical work is preferred.

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree

Required Experience: Registered Nurse (RN)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Nursing License in New York State
  • Bilingual language skills in Chinese, Vietnamese, and/or English (verbal and written)
  • Priority given to candidates who can speak, read, and write Cantonese, Mandarin, and Vietnamese
  • Experience in diabetes management
