Position Summary:

The Part-Time Student Employment Assistant will support the Student Employment Manager in managing student employment on campus including I9 processing for FWS and non-FWS students, develop and manage relationships with campus supervisors and community partners, as well as assist in the coordination of FWS and FWS Community Service opportunities in partnership with the Office of Financial Aid.

HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENCY AND ONE YEAR OF RELATED OFFICE EXPERIENCE; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE.

Key Responsibility: Student Hiring Processing, Compliance, & Systems Support

Essential Tasks:

• Manage I-9 appointments through Handshake, ensuring timely approvals and adequate availability of timeslots, starting and completing appointments
• Complete I-9s for undergraduate, graduate, and international students from start to finish, including providing students with next steps once the I-9 is complete
• Complete the E-Verify process for each completed I-9
• Resolve any I-9 issues promptly
• Establish student employees as pre-hire in Banner HR
• Serve as an EPAF approver and verify the correct dates of EPAFs
• Support for audit and compliance of student hiring paperwork
• Train on new HR processes as they are implemented
• Support the Student Employment Manager with UNCG’s transition to NeoEd

Key Responsibility: Student Employment Office Support & Event Coordination

Essential Tasks:

• Support the Student Employment Manager on the Spartan Ready committee
• Monitor the student employment email and voice mail
• Assist the Student Employment Manager in supporting student supervisors through trainings as well as in-the-moment questions & concerns
• Liaise with campus offices
• Research peer institution student employment practices, webpages, and resources to identify best practices and inform SEO improvements

Key Responsibility: Federal Work-Study Assistance

Essential Tasks:

• Assist in coordinating Federal Work-Study (FWS) and FWS Community Service placements in partnership with the Office of Financial Aid
• Verify student FWS award eligibility and hiring status prior to placement
• Track FWS student earnings against award limits and communicate updates as needed
• Support communication between FWS student employees, supervisors, and the Office of Financial Aid to resolve eligibility or award questions
• Maintain accurate records of FWS Community Service placements and partner agency agreements

Essential Tasks:

• Support student employment and office-wide CPD events (Career fairs, workshops, tabling, Student Employee Appreciation events, and SOAR summer sessions)
• Assist with administrative functions and special initiatives for student employment and employer relations as needed
