GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Under the mentorship of full-time faculty and staff in the Natural Science Department, the lab assistant will work with equipment and materials to gather data and report findings in the science labs at the Lynn campus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Learn and follow lab safety procedures, including safety-related dress codes and all other safety-related expectations.
- Read and interpret written laboratory procedures.
- Use laboratory equipment and supplies, as well as computer-based analysis tools, to complete lab procedures.
- Collect and organize data based on laboratory results.
- Provide suggestions for improving lab procedure communication and implementation.
- Clean, organize, and maintain equipment, glassware, and laboratory spaces as needed.
- Attend lab meetings as required.
- Other tasks and duties related to development and optimization of laboratory methods and procedures.
Job Requirements:
- Current North Shore Community College student.
- Completion of CHE101 or CHE103 with a minimum grade of C is required.
- Basic technical skills to set up and troubleshoot VR devices, apps, laptops, software, and classroom equipment.
- Ability to support students during VR sessions, including equipment handling, safety, and simple troubleshooting.
- Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to plan, record, and edit short STEM educational videos using basic video-editing apps, follow simple platform guidelines, and record clear visuals and audio in lab or classroom settings for social media platforms.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
