"Part-Time Student Worker"

Position Summary

The Advising, Counseling, & Support Services Department is recruiting for a part-time student worker. This position works to logistically support the operations of Victoria Colleges Support Services within a culture of student-centered support services. This position assists students in the utilization of JPs Market, JPs Mini-Pantries, and JPs Clothing Closet; connects students with additional support services; and maintains inventory, organization and cleanliness within an environment of exceptional customer service.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Welcomes and assists students in visiting JPs Market ensuring a positive experience
2. Understands and adheres to JPs Market policy and procedures
3. Communicates with visiting students about additional support services and resources available
4. Assists students in-person or by phone as needed
5. Maintains inventory on shelves by re-stocking when needed
6. Assists with cleaning, organizing, and maintaining the market
7. Keeps shelves and fridge/freezer cleaned, stocked, and organized with merchandise that are accessible and organized
8. Assists with unloading and stocking merchandise for the market
9. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Advising & Counseling and Support Services Coordinator

Qualifications

• Enrollment in minimum of 6 credit hours in the Fall and Spring semester and 3 credit hours in the summer
• English proficiency
• Demonstrate proficient written and oral communication skills
• Friendly and professional attitude and good interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills and ability to establish and meet timelines
• Team player who is dependable, punctual, organized, and detail oriented

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle controls, key pads, etc. Will be required to sit and reach with hands and arms as well as, sit, stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds while loading and unloading market inventory. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, some color vision, and the ability to adjust focus from documents to computer screen. Hearing of light to moderate sound is required by this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
