The mission of The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures is to educate, inspire, and delight people of all ages by collecting, displaying, and interpreting toys and miniatures that illuminate diverse narratives and cultural heritage. The Museum, located in Kansas City, Missouri, contains the world's largest collection of fine-scale miniatures and an expansive collection of historically significant toys from the late seventeenth century to the present.

Job Description

The Summer Programs Assistant will work with the Museum's Learning and Engagement team to help plan and facilitate the Museum's summer programming for children and families, including summer camp, workshops, and drop-in activities.

The Summer Programs Assistant must feel confident interacting with visitors and speaking in public. This role involves sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time and frequent bending, kneeling and lifting items to prepare for program activities.

Shift

This is a temporary, non-benefit eligible part-time position.

TIME COMMITMENT

• May 27-29, 2026: 18 hours + Required on-site work for all hours.
• June 2-July 31, 2026: 22-28 hours/week + Required on-site work for all hours.

WEEKLY SCHEDULE

• Required training and programming dates: May 27, 28, 29, June 12, June 26, July 13-17, and July 24, 2026.
• Tuesdays - Fridays: 10:15am - 4:45pm
• Mondays (July only): 12:30-4:30pm

Additional hours will be arranged in conversation with the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Ideal applicants will have at least three years of professional experience working with K-12 audiences and a bachelor's degree. Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills and have demonstrated experience of public speaking and working with the public, especially children and families. Preference will be given to those who demonstrate the ability to be a self-starter with high professionalism, have exemplary problem-solving skills, and work well in a collaborative team environment. Current or former K-12 educators are especially encouraged to apply.

Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $18.50 per hour. Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements. Grade: MKT University Title: TEMPORARY PROFESSIONAL
