Job Description
The Patient Care Educator for the DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine at Lincoln Memorial University-Knoxville (DCOM at LMU-Knoxville) is responsible for providing learning support and instruction for osteopathic medical students in the areas of clinical and interpersonal skills, teamwork, communications, etc. through simulation and formative/summative evaluation.
Required Qualifications
Nursing (LPN, RN or BSN), certified military medic (E4 or above), paramedic or related experience (at least 3 years).
Preferred Qualifications
Recent experience as an educator or skills instructor; knowledge and expertise in medical surgical; experience with life support and other clinical skills training; experience with simulation as an educational tool or with hi-fidelity simulation manikins preferred but not required.

Job Duties
- promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students, and to the community at large;
- promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students
- communicate professionally and effectively with course directors, faculty and students
- work with faculty on case development and rubrics for clinical encounters
- Create rubrics using the clinical evaluation software (B-Line )
- train Standardized Participants (SPs) on cases and interpersonal skills feedback
- assist with physical examination labs as needed
- monitor student performance on (SP) encounters
- learn and utilize simulation technology for teaching and assessing health professions students
- provide faculty development with the use of simulation
- assist with case/scenario writing if needed
- assist with daily administrative operation of the simulation lab
- support the operation of simulation manikins and instruct during activities
- assist with clinical skills procedures training
- organize and participate in community outreach programs
- willing to acquire certification and serve as an BLS, ACLS, PALS instructor as appropriate
- work within state and federal codes, statutes and regulations that govern Tennessee
- participate on university committees
- complete required institutional, program accreditation, and other reports necessary for the advancement of University programs, both on campus and at extended campus sites
- perform other duties as assigned
