Patient Services Associate

- Provide exceptional Customer Service in an ambulatory setting
- Conduct Check In/Check Out
- Schedule Patients for appointments, tests, and consults
- Verify and Update Patient Information
- Obtain referrals and/or prior authorizations
- Confirm Patient Charges and Collect Payment
- Maintain and Manage In-Baskets in a timely manner
- Execute varied clerical tasks of the front office
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Solid working knowledge of computers and navigating multiple computer applications
- Able to multi-task in a robust, fast paced environment
- Professional and Positive Interaction with Patients, Providers, and Staff
- Ability to work independently, identifying priorities while contributing as an active team member
- Basic Medical Terminology
- Existing MiChart or EHR experience
- Knowledge of UMHS policies and procedures
- Demonstrated record of excellent attendance.
- Demonstrated active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team setting.
- Communicates effectively.
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
