Patient Services Specialist
Position Description
This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic patient flow and serving as the primary contact for patients. Responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position is responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Employees may have cash-handling responsibilities.
Major/Essential Functions
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients and their families, assisting them in understanding and accessing healthcare services.
- Provide guidance and support to patients in scheduling all appointments for patients and accessing healthcare services.
- Conduct virtual visits/phone visits with patients.
- Enter all information in EHR and send information about sessions to billing.
- Answer questions in person and over the phone about our programs such as the Memory Care Clinic and others.
- Send all documentation to patient’s primary care physician and neurologist.
- Confirm and enter referrals for patients.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate care and address any barriers to access.
- Database Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient interactions and services provided.
- Administrative Duties such as Answering Phone, Schedule Management for Supervisor, Purchase Orders, Travel, P-Card.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as a strong commitment to helping others.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Required Qualifications
A High School diploma or GED. 1-year Customer Service, office, or related experience. Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement.
Occasional Duties
- Develop, manage, and maintain an up-to-date database of contacts and resources in the community.
- Prepare and submit progress reports to the organization’s leadership.
- Represent the organization at community events, staff meetings and other meetings as needed.
- Engage in public and promote awareness through local health fairs and networking in the community.
