The Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Engineering Technology is an academic unit in the School of Science, Aviation, Health, and Technology. The department offers students the Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology, Computer Science, and Mathematics. The purpose of the unit is to foster an environment that encourages students to become active participants in the process of learning by providing quality teaching, advising, and engagement in career explorations.
Description of Work
The primary purpose of the position is to provide innovative leadership in the area of Engineering Technology. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to facilitate collaborations between the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and secondary school education majors with an interest in STEM, emphasizing the engineering technology fields, and the recruitment and retention of mathematics and science teacher education majors. The professor will apply research -based best practices and cultivate long-term partnerships to stimulate and motivate the next generation of teachers, engineering, and technology professionals. The position will teach, develop, and assess courses.
Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position
An earned doctorate in engineering technology or related area with relevant professional experience.
Must have a minimum of 18 hours of graduate coursework in an engineering technology-related discipline, with a minimum of three years college level teaching.
Must have demonstrated ability to lead student research projects and incorporate experiential learning activities into courses.
Minimum Training and Experience
A Doctorate degree is required in Engineering Technology or related areas. May hire at the lower rank of Distinguished Scholar based on review of credentials. The individual selected for the Distinguished Professorship will be a published scholar in Engineering Technology . His/her presence on the faculty will provide intellectual depth while further strengthening the quality of teaching in the fulfillment of the university’s mission of excellence in research and scholarly activities.
