Job Summary
The H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) is undertaking a multi-year effort to strengthen its undergraduate education through an Educational Strategic Initiative organized around systems thinking, business and technical communication, Decision AI, and experiential and project-based learning. Central to this effort is building a connected pathway of design experiences from a new first-year course through Cornerstone Design and Senior Design that engages students in real-world systemic problems from their first semester onward.
The Center for Health and Humanitarian Systems (CHHS) applies ISyE methods to improve health and humanitarian outcomes worldwide, working with government agencies, NGOs, and industry partners on problems ranging from supply chain design to public health logistics. CHHS connects research, education, and practice, including professional education programs such as the Health and Humanitarian Supply Chain Management certificate. This position sits at the intersection of these two efforts. The successful candidate will contribute to:
- Supporting ISyE's educational portfolio through design and experiential learning experiences, industry and community connections, and student professional development.
- Supporting CHHS's mission in an advisory capacity through educational and partnership input.
Responsibilities
ISYE Educational Initiatives (40%)
Develop and deliver curricular and co-curricular experiences, starting with high-priority initiatives, such as:
- Build and launch new design experiences and/or courses that connect with the existing curriculum (Cornerstone Design, Senior Design, etc.) and expose first-year ISyE students to real-world systemic applications in multiple fields (e.g., healthcare, supply chains)
- Deliver lectures in professional experience and/or health system focused courses (e.g., ISYE 2801, ISYE 4510, etc.)
- Advise/mentor students and project teams on professional career development
CHHS Advisory & Consulting Support - (9%)
Contribute subject-matter expertise and advisory input to advance high-priority CHHS goals, such as:
- Advise CHHS leadership on the strategic direction and positioning of the Health and Humanitarian Supply Chain Management (HHSCM) certificate, including content relevance and enrollment growth.
- Inform the design of global health and humanitarian professional experiences for students, drawing on partner relationships and practitioner insight.
- Consult on partnerships and high-priority on/off-campus events and programs as opportunities arise.
Required Qualifications
This is an open rank search. The final job offer will be dependent on candidate qualifications in alignment with non-tenure track academic faculty ranks as outlined in section 3.2.2 of the Georgia Tech Faculty Handbook (https://www.policylibrary.gatech.edu/faculty-handbook/3.2.2-non-tenure-track-academic-faculty-members-hiring-and-promotion-guideline)
- Distinguished professional career with at least 10 years of progressively responsible leadership and/or technical experience in a field relevant to Industrial and Systems Engineering.
- National or international recognition for professional accomplishments.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to teaching, mentoring, and engagement with industry, government, or other external partners.
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline required; doctorate preferred (depending on the specific role).
