Function of Position:
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payrolls for the hourly (bi-weekly), salary (monthly) payrolls and the student payroll (semi-monthly).

Responsibilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Process monthly and semi-monthly payrolls including collection of all necessary data for input to the colleague system for accurate pay calculations.
Providing audit reports for each pay for approval by Payroll manager.
Organizing all aspects of each pay, including Stipends, Benefits, PTO, New Hires and Terminations.
Updating all spreadsheets associated with Pay, Vacation, Fringe, and Taxes.
Troubleshooting timecard issues and helping Supervisors with these issues.
Providing tax Information for each pay and recording on tax summary spreadsheet for payment.
Run the PTO accrual on a yearly basis and bi-weekly for hourly employees and adjust any employee based on hire date.
Run all reports corresponding to each pay and distribute to appropriate personnel.
Process all garnishments and child support orders according to court specifications.
Complete employment verifications in a timely manner.
Assist the payroll manager with any projects or audits.
Maintain professional knowledge regarding any changes in payroll laws or processing.
Any additional duties given by payroll manager or controller as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
A high school degree and specialized knowledge of payroll and human resources related matters along with a minimum of three years effective experience. The candidate must have excellent oral, interpersonal and written communication skills; demonstrated experience in the successful completion of multiple projects and responsibilities; and proven success in a team environment. Must have the necessary skills to effectively utilize Microsoft Office including word, excel and outlook. Experience with Ellucian Colleague is a plus.
