Pediatric Cardiologist with Experience in Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension

The Stanford Department of Pediatrics is committed to advancing the health of infants, children, and adolescents through innovative medical care, research, education, training, and advocacy. With over 400 pediatricians and pediatric subspecialties, our department is one of the largest in the Stanford University School of Medicine. Ranked among the top in the nation by US News and World Report, we attract medical students, interns, postdoctoral scholars, residents, fellows, and faculty from around the world. We offer broad-based training in general pediatrics, critical care and pediatric subspecialties within a variety of ambulatory, inpatient and community settings. Integrated with our educational activities, these programs provide hands-on learning to equip our graduates with the skills they'll need as future advocates of children's health.

The Department of Pediatrics is a dynamic, stimulating place to work and because we are focused on growth and improved excellence, our faculty and staff have particularly challenging and rewarding roles.

The Division of Pediatric Cardiology in the Department of Pediatrics at Stanford University School of Medicine/Stanford Medicine Children’s Health is recruiting a pediatric cardiologist with experience in pediatric pulmonary hypertension to join the Division as a Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor in the Clinician Educator line. The major criterion for appointment as Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administrative and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Academic rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The successful applicant must have a medical degree (MD) or equivalent. Candidates should have clinical training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology (completed fellowship and be board eligible/certified). Advanced clinical training and/or post-fellowship clinical experience in pediatric pulmonary hypertension is preferred. They will have demonstrated outstanding clinical abilities in the care of infants and children with pulmonary vascular disease. They will serve as an attending physician in the Pulmonary Vascular Disease Program at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford (LPCHS). Job responsibilities will include attending on the inpatient Pulmonary Hypertension Consult Service at LPCHS and outpatient clinical care of children with pulmonary vascular disease in the Betty Irene Moore Children’s Heart Center. Your responsibilities will also include primary inpatient service coverage on our ACCU unit and maintaining a panel of patients in our OP clinics. There may be additional opportunities to participate in multidisciplinary subspecialty clinics (see below). In addition to training residents and categorical fellows in Pediatric Cardiology, our faculty train up to one senior fellow in Pediatric Pulmonary Vascular Disease annually.

The Pediatric Pulmonary Vascular Disease Program at Stanford is one of the nation’s leading centers for the research, diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary vascular disease in children. We care for infants, children, and adolescents across the spectrum of pulmonary vascular disease through our inpatient consultation service and dedicated outpatient clinics. Our multidisciplinary team includes physicians in Pediatric Cardiology, Cardiac Intensive Care, and Pulmonary Medicine, as well as two nurse practitioners, a social worker and genetic counselor. As part of the Betty Irene Moore Children’s Heart Center, we care for children with congenital heart disease and pulmonary hypertension and collaborate with colleagues in the Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Therapies (PACT) team in the care of patients with single ventricle hearts and/or heart failure with pulmonary vascular disease. We work closely with colleagues in Neonatology and Pulmonary Medicine, including the Pediatric Lung and Heart-Lung transplant Program at LPCHS, the only pediatric lung transplant program on the West Coast. Faculty will have the opportunity to participate in several multidisciplinary programs, including the Alagille Syndrome Program, Cardiac and Respiratory Care for Infants with Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (CRIB) Program, Center for Advanced Lung Therapies (CEAL), and Pulmonary Artery Reconstruction (PAR) Program. Educational and clinical research opportunities are available with support from Vera Moulton Wall Center for Pulmonary Vascular Disease at Stanford, a joint program between Stanford Medicine Children’s Health and Stanford Health Care.
