The Pediatrics department is seeking physicians in inpatient, outpatient, and mixed settings clinical practices in Riverside, San Bernardino, and Coachella Valley at UCR Health clinics and affiliate sites. Pediatricians supervise and/or perform a full range of professional work in primary care medicine involving the examination, diagnosis, and treatment of pediatric patients. They work collaboratively with other physician groups for patient care. Associate Physicians provide patient care activities under medical supervision where more difficult and complex cases are referred to Physicians.
This is a Per Diem appointment. Per Diem Physicians are hourly paid appointees whose primary purpose is clinical service. These appointments have a variable schedule and cannot exceed 43%. These appointments may be on a pre-scheduled basis or as needed on a day-to-day basis as determined by the University.
The full salary range for the Pediatrician is $51.43 - $131.89 per hour. However, the expected hiring range for this position is up to $120 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Requirements:
Educational Requirements
- Possession of the education and legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance. Required
Experience Requirements
- Completion of medical residency program. Required
- Minimum of 1 year of experience post internship/residency. Required
- Candidates must qualify for medical staff privileges at UCR Health and our affiliated sites/hospitals. Required
- Experience in inpatient and outpatient settings. Preferred
- Background and skills in clinical practice, clinical teaching, and managed care. Preferred
- Prior experience providing inpatient and/or outpatient pediatric care, newborn exams, and ER consults. Preferred
- Experience and interest in chronic disease management and working in interdisciplinary teams. Preferred
License Requirements
- Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Medical Board. Required
- Maintenance of California Medical License and Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) prescribing number. Required
Certification Requirements
- Board certification in specialty as determined by the American Board of Medical Specialists. Required
- For employees in the inpatient setting: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification. Required
- For employees in the outpatient setting: Basic Life Support (BLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. Required

Minimum Requirements
- Ability to work effectively with staff and patients from diverse ethnic/racial backgrounds, educational levels, sexual orientations, and identities.
- Ability to work independently under general direction and to work collaboratively with others.
- Ability to stay abreast of new medical knowledge, and to maintain and increase expertise and skills as relevant to clinical practice.
- Advanced communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Computer proficiency and first-hand experience in using electronic health records systems to document patient interactions and coordinate care.
