Master's Degree and minimum of 2 years of experience in a museum or gallery setting with demonstrable knowledge of current issues in curatorial and art registrar practices as related to acquisitions, management and conservation; the proven ability to work effectively and positively with a wide array of stakeholders; and excellent communication skills.

Position Details:
Indiana State University and Cunningham Memorial Library invite applications for the title of Permanent Art Collection Curator. Reporting to the University Librarian, this 12-month senior position provides leadership and administrative oversight of personnel assigned to the Permanent Art Collection. This unit holds, preserves, and makes university art collections accessible. The Permanent Art Curator provides overall direction, supervision, management, and leadership in these areas; promotes collections, oversees exhibit programming, education and outreach, and works with library administration to cultivate donors and pursue grant opportunities. This position will operate in a team environment and effectively collaborate and communicate with all constituencies. This position will work to establish strong relationships with the faculty, staff, and students.
Rank: Non tenure track 12-month position
Supervision:
Provides direct supervision of staff of the Permanent Art Collection unit.
Required Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must have a minimum of a master's degree in art history, Studio Art, or Museum Studies and 2 years of experience in a museum or gallery setting.

Job Summary:
Responsible for the stewardship, documentation, research, development and care of Indiana State University's permanent art collection, primarily comprised of prints, ceramics and paintings. Provides access to the collection through on-campus venues, placing artwork in both public and work spaces on campus, safe storage of works, condition reporting and prioritization of conservation needs. Ensures the integrity of the collection, through strategic collection maintenance and development. The Curator will collaborate across the university to foster experiential learning opportunities for students; collaborates with the Gallery Director to plan, install and publicize exhibitions of art pieces from the permanent collection. Establishes positive relationships with both internal and external constituencies including donors, collectors and artists; with a strong commitment to collaboration. Other duties may include grant writing and budget oversight and consulting and working with conservators.
