Pest Management Technician (7141C), Facilities Services
Position Summary
The Integrated Pest Management Technician provides comprehensive pest management to the Berkeley campus using the safest, most effective and environmentally friendly methods available.
Responsibilities
Field Duties
- Using Integrated Pest Management techniques, the technician provides safe, effective, and efficient services to multiple locations.
- Works closely with clients to provide advice for resolving or preventing future pest problems.
- Ensures routine, quality service is provided to clients and verifies client satisfaction.
- Advises crafts personnel and building managers of structural modification measures to exclude pests.
- Accumulates the required CEUs to maintain a QAL or QAC Category A or Structural Branch 2 license.
- Provides backup for other pest management technicians as needed.
Administrative Duties
- Plans/schedules pest management duties for the week.
- Generates accurate and timely records using the appropriate forms.
Safety
- Attend job-related and safety training as required.
- Adhere to university and departmental safety guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Must have the skills, knowledge, and ability to use the practices of Integrated Pest Management.
- Must have exceptional communication skills.
- Customer service skills and ability to work with a diverse campus population.
- Expert knowledge of the latest pest management techniques.
- Knowledgeable in techniques to solve pest problems in sensitive campus environments.
- Ability to coordinate solutions to problems with different units.
- Knowledgeable of county, state, and federal regulations regarding pesticides.
- Works independently in a responsible manner and cooperatively in a group setting.
- Pre-employment medical physical required.
- Must be available to respond to emergencies, work on-call, rotating swing shift and holidays.
- Adhere to Facilities Services work rules and Code of Conduct.
- Employee is personally responsible for maintaining and renewing Qualified Applicator's License.
Education / Training
Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent experience/training. (Preferred)
Licenses / Certifications
Valid DPR Qualified Applicators License A (QAL Category A) or valid Branch 2 Field Representative License (Required)
