Overview
The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking candidates for a Pharmacy Technician position to provide skilled and technical assistance to a pharmacist.
The Veterinary Teaching Hospital Pharmacy is a licensed pharmacy in the state of Alabama and provides full pharmacy services to the patients of the Auburn University Teaching Hospital (JT Vaughan Large Animal and Wilford and Kate Bailey Small Animal).
Typical shifts for this position are Mon through Friday 10am-6pm and every 6th weekend 8am-11am.

Responsibilities
- Assists a registered pharmacist in dispensing pharmaceuticals to clinicians and veterinary students used for the treatment of patients in the clinic.
- Maintains pharmaceutical inventory to include (but not limited to) ordering, receiving, verifying shipments, approving invoices, and stocking.
- Maintains and stocks automated dispensing machine systems throughout clinic.
- Maintains data base for pharmacy including inventory and expiration data.
- Maintains reference sources and disseminates information to faculty and students regarding medications, dosages and pricing.
Qualifications
Depending on the combination of education and experience, the selected finalist will be hired as a Pharmacy Technician and assigned levels I, II, III, or IV.
Level I: requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
Level II: requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus 1 year of experience in providing assistance to a pharmacist or in a pharmacy setting.
Level III: requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus 4 years of experience in providing assistance to a pharmacist or in a pharmacy setting.
Level IV: requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus 6 years of experience in providing assistance to a pharmacist or in a pharmacy setting.
Indicated education is required; no substitutions allowed.
Substitutions Allowed for Experience:
Degrees may be used in lieu of experience.
Minimum License and Certifications:
- Alabama Pharmacy Technician license required upon hire
