Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Routine processes such as labeling and inventory maintenance
- Process prescriptions through electronic health record and QS1 or other pharmacy software
- Recording data and maintaining accurate patient profiles.
- Preparing and dispensing medications.
- Provide positive and effective customer service by listening to the patients/clients and understanding and responding to identified needs.
- Provide basic instructions to patients/clients on how to administer and/or store medication and refer patient to pharmacist for any technical or detailed information.
- Assists with overall pharmacy inventory
- Ability to understand, communicate, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Working knowledge of federal and state laws, rules and guidelines regarding pharmacy services
- Fill medication orders following established procedures
- Maintains accurate patient data
- Prioritizes tasks and keeping current on all records and forms
- Demonstrates basic knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terminology and processing techniques
Minimum Experience / Education:
Completion of a nine-month Pharmacy Technician program or graduation from high school and one year of pharmacy-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Journey: Completion of a nine-month Pharmacy Technician program or graduation from high school and two years of pharmacy-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced: Completion of a nine-month Pharmacy Technician program or graduation from high school and four years of pharmacy-related experience including one year of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Must be at least 18 years of age. High school graduate or GED required. Must be licensed by the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy and maintain license. Required certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT). Prior Retail Pharmacy Technician experience is required.
