Offer Description
The general objective consists in demonstrating the quantum efficiency of Organic Nano-Architectures (ONA) on 2D insulating substrates and their enhancement compared to their metal-hybridized case. The PhD student will develop methods that improve quantum coherence of ONAs with control at the atomic scale giving rise to true quantum behaviour in molecular systems. The preparation and characterization to be employed are scanning microscopies and photoemission spectroscopies in a UHV environment. 4 years contract under Predoctoral Personnel programme (PIF2026). Gross salary of approximately 31 k€/year + social benefits.

Skills/Qualifications
Master's degree (or equivalent) in Physics, Materials Science, Nanotechnology, or a related field. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. We greatly appreciate previous experience with UHV techniques, scanning probe methods (STM-AFM), electron microscopy (TEM), low-temperature setups, and scientific software packages (e.g. Python, Origin, Igor, etcetera). Good team player and a vocation for science are critical.
