Physical Therapist- Spine/NeuroSport
To evaluate and treat orthopedic spine, TMD (TMJ) patients with diseases, injuries, disorders and disabilities, to relieve pain, develop or restore function and maintain maximum performance, using physical modalities and exercise prescribed by a physician. The Burlington Therapy team has a full-time opening for a qualifying Physical Therapist.
- Interpret referrals and ensure necessary precautions are identified so that appropriate physical therapy evaluation and treatment can be provided.
- Develop focused individually designed treatment plans based on the patient’s functional goals.
- Utilizes independent clinical decision making to progress patients and modify treatment depending upon the patient’s needs and medical status.
- Monitor patients throughout the provision of treatment and respond appropriately to changes in patient status.
- Instruct patients and their families in home treatment programs.
- Maintain records of patient evaluation, treatment and discharge status.
- May conduct research under the guidance of a Physical Therapy Director.
- May conduct special projects contributing to teaching materials and procedures used in physical therapy.
- Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- If licensed prior to 2016: Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or basic MS
- If licensed on or after 2016: Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy (DPT)
- Completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Program and Clinical Internship
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the State of Michigan
- This position requires Primary Source Verification
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced specialty practice in the evaluation and treatment of all pelvic floor diagnoses for men and women
- Advanced training in spinal care, TMD care
- Demonstrated successful history of treating orthopedic spine, acute traumatic orthopedic and neurological injuries related to the spine and vestibular system post-concussion
- A collaborative work style and positive attitude to add to our high performing multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- ABPTS certification in Sports Orthopedics
- Knowledge/expertise of sport training/treatment
- Vestibular course certification
Days, full time, not to exceed 10 hours in a single day. Closing shift until 7 PM 4 days of the week. 2 closing shifts per week required.
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
