About the Opportunity
Job Summary: University Health and Counseling Services at Northeastern University is seeking a part-time physician who displays enthusiasm and excitement to provide high quality, empathetic medical care to a large and diverse undergraduate and graduate population. Reporting to the Medical Director, major responsibilities for the physician will include:
- Provide outstanding clinical care to the University's student population through the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of illness in accordance with current standard of care;
- Practice continuity of care through appropriate and timely assessment, treatment; follow-up and referral;
- Provide clinical supervision and support to medical staff within the UHCS service model;
- Help ensure compliance of the Health Center's medical care with all applicable standards of practice in MA;
- Provide on-site and on-call clinical supervision to NP/PA staff;
- Participate in developing and implementing quality improvement initiatives on the medical service;
- Demonstrate best practice, consistent student-focus and efficiency of time and resources.
This is a Part time position (24 hours/week) and includes about one Saturday per month and one evening per week as well as occasional holiday hours. On call assignments occur on a rotating basis with other medical providers in the practice. Ideal candidate would have at least two years of experience in an acute care setting.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires M.D. or D.O from an accredited medical or osteopathic institution
- Requires current Massachusetts State M.D. license and DEA registration
- Must be board certified or eligible in Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine and/or Internal Medicine
- Acute care experience in a fast-paced environment to address acute concerns and manage injuries and be comfortable working in high-acuity environments requiring swift clinical decision-making
- Experience in Reproductive Health including STI and Contraceptive Management required
- Experience in Gender Affirming Care and Medication Abortion Preferred
- Demonstrated success in working inclusively in a highly diverse student setting preferred
- Must demonstrate enthusiasm in the mission of providing for the prevention, management and treatment of the medical needs of Northeastern University students both individually and community-wide
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated promptness in reporting and documentation
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work with confidential and time sensitive information and materials
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to create a positive team work environment
- Facility with consulting and providing supervision and education to clinical colleagues as well as community clinicians, University staff and faculty, student organizations and partner institutions

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
PATIENT CARE:
Evidence based evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of students/patients and timely and thorough documentation of the same. | Patient care includes educating students regarding illness and disease and promotion of healthy lifestyles. | Patient care follow-up and communication | Review lab work, other diagnostic studies and consultation reports. Documentation of such review and follow up. | Contact and advise student/patient as required | Coordinate referrals and/or arrange for acute, emergent, or specialty care.
QUALITY IMPROVEMENT:
Participate in development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives at UHCS | Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION AND ASSISTANCE TO CLINICAL PERSONNEL:
Have flexibility and serve as consultant/resource to Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants | Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and/or Medical Director.
