Adjunct Physics Lab Instructor Rolling Pool
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate hands-on physics laboratory sessions for undergraduate students
- Guide students through experimental procedures and data analysis techniques
- Ensure laboratory safety protocols are followed at all times
- Assist students with equipment operation and troubleshooting
- Evaluate student performance through lab reports and practical assessments
- Maintain laboratory equipment and coordinate with technical staff for repairs
- Provide clear explanations of physics concepts and their practical applications
- Support student learning through individual and small group instruction
- Document and report equipment issues or safety concerns promptly
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Physics or a closely related field
- Previous teaching or instructional experience in physics laboratories
- Strong knowledge of undergraduate physics principles and laboratory techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an employee at VCU
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Physics or related field
- Experience with modern physics laboratory equipment and instrumentation
- Background in curriculum development or educational assessment
- Familiarity with learning management systems
- Previous experience working with students at various skill levels
