Physics or Mathematics Faculty
Northwestern College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor in physics or mathematics to begin August 2026. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for and excellence in teaching introductory physics courses, introductory mathematics courses, and courses in the physics teaching major. The teaching load for this position is 24 credit hours per academic year. The successful candidate will also be responsible for scholarship and service, including recruiting and advising physics teaching majors.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must either (1) hold a graduate degree in physics, physics education, science education or a related field and demonstrate effective teaching of physics alongside the ability and willingness to teach mathematics or (2) hold a graduate degree in mathematics or mathematics education and demonstrate effective teaching of mathematics alongside the ability and willingness to teach physics.
Preferred Qualifications: Hiring preference will be given to those with a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in physics, physics education, science education, mathematics or a related discipline. Candidates who are enthusiastic about and have experience in supporting a physics teaching program will also be given preference.
