Physics Teaching Fellowship
Job Details
The Austin College Department of Physics and Engineering invites applications for three-year Teaching Fellowship in Physics beginning Fall 2026. Candidates must have Ph.D. in hand before the position begins in August 2026.
The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to innovative teaching in a liberal arts environment and should be able to teach physics effectively at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum. Teaching responsibilities may include introductory physics for health sciences, science courses for non-science majors, and upper-level courses for physics and engineering physics majors. The teaching load is normally two lectures and two labs per regular semester, plus two January Term courses over three years. Supervision of undergraduate research projects is also a possibility, depending on interest and experience. The search is open to candidates with theoretical, computational, observational, or experimental expertise in any subfield of physics, with a preference for applied physics. A Ph.D. in physics or closely related field is required.

- letter of application

- copies of graduate transcripts (unofficial are sufficient for the application),
- statement of teaching philosophy, no more than one page
- statement of research, no more than one page
- a statement reflecting on the composition of our student body and outlining how they would engage all our students in their teaching, scholarship, and/or service.
