Plate Wash Assistant

Department and Job Purpose

To support the Buttery and food service teams with washing, storing and stocking of plates, cutlery and food service crockery. Assistance with the preparation of functions and rooms and processing of deliveries. Support to full time Plate Room Assistant.

Please note, that this advert will close once the vacancy is filled. Early applications are encouraged. Please pay close attention to the shift pattern below and only apply if you can do the hours as described. Part time working 55 hours over a 2-week rota (Week 1: 33.5 hrs, Week 2: 21.5hrs). Shifts as below for guidance with an unpaid 30-minute break where the shift is 6 hours or more.

Example Shift Pattern

Week 1
Monday – split shift | 8.30 am – 2.30 pm = 6 hours 5.30 pm - 8.30 pm = 3 hours
Tuesday | 5.30 pm - 9.00 pm = 3.5 hours
Wednesday | 5.30 pm - 8.30 pm = 3 hours
Thursday | 5.30 pm - 8.30 pm = 3 hours
Friday  | 5.30 pm - 9.00 pm = 3 hours
Saturday – split shift | 10.00 am - 2.00 pm = 4 hours 6.00 pm - 8.00 pm = 2 hours
Sunday – split shift | 10.00 am - 2.00 pm = 4 hours 6.00 pm - 9.00 pm = 3 hours

Week 2 
Monday – split shift | 8.30 am - 2.30 pm = 6 hours 5.30 pm - 8.30 pm = 3 hours
Tuesday | 5.30 pm - 9.00 pm = 3.5 hours
Wednesday | 5.30 pm - 8.30 pm = 3 hours
Thursday | 5.30 pm - 8.30 pm = 3 hours
Friday | 5.30 pm - 9 pm = 3.5 hours 
Saturday | Day off
Sunday | Day off

Summary of Terms and Conditions of Employment

Appointment: This is a permanent part time post and there will be an initial probationary period of six months.   The appointment will be conditional on verification of the successful candidate’s ‘Right to Work’ checks and subject to the receipt of satisfactory references and medical clearance through the University’s Occupational Health Services.

Salary: £18,690.38 per annum pro rata (full time equivalent - £27,186 per annum).

Other Information: No smoking is allowed in any part of the College.
