The Opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi
We are seeking an experienced Platform & Systems Engineer to join our ICT Infrastructure Services team.
This role was established within ICT to form part of a formal support model for a new service, High Performance Compute. This service is a fundamental requirement to support AUT Researchers in daily research activities using ICT delivered compute platforms. In addition, this role also supports our Office 365 service Administrator with Platform related activities.
This role plays a key part in the design, support, and continuous improvement of AUT’s enterprise platforms and networked systems, ensuring reliability, security, and performance across a complex environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- High Performance Compute design; implementation and support including enterprise platforms and system software across Windows and Linux environments.
- Office 365 technical 3rd level support including assisting with PCI compliance and delegated overflow tasks from the 365 lead.
- Lead and contribute to change, incident, and problem management processes.
- Manage and optimise storage, backup, and recovery services.
- Support virtualised and cloud platforms (e.g. VMware, Nutanix, Azure, O365).
- Monitor system performance and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to team members.
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- 7+ years’ experience supporting enterprise Windows and Linux platforms.
- A good understanding of Cloud, on premise Platforms and technologies.
- Proven mentoring and leadership capability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Relevant Microsoft and/or Linux certifications (e.g. Windows Server, Azure, RHCSA/RHCE).
- ITIL and/or PRINCE2 (or similar project management) certification.

Salary Ranges | Ngā Utu: $110,000 – $131,000 per annum, commensurate with the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
