Position Overview:
Under general supervision, performs plumbing work at the journey level. Installs, repairs and maintains water, gas, sewer, storm and drain systems, and related equipment and pipelines.

Responsibilities:
- Installs, diagnose problems, repairs and maintains pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, gas, sewer and drainage systems according to blueprints, specifications, and plumbing codes.
- Lays out and assembles pipe systems and supports. Cuts, bends, welds and threads pipe. Inspects work to determine presence of obstructions; plans installation and repairs to avoid obstruction.
- Oversees and performs repair and replacement of toilets, sinks, drain lines, and faucets. Cleans obstruction from waste and sewage lines.
- Prepares estimates of time, labor, and materials. Prepares reports reflecting daily operations and project status.
- Operates and maintains tools and equipment of the plumbing trade. Cleans work area upon completion of project.
- Provides guidance and training in plumbing work to other maintenance personnel. May have lead responsibility for special projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Four years progressively responsible experience in the plumbing trade.
- Class C or equivalent driver's license valid in the State of Maryland.
- Possession of a certification as a licensed plumber from the State of Maryland or from another state that qualifies for reciprocity in Maryland.
Preferred Qualifications:
- GED/High School Diploma
Salary:
Pay Range 12 ($25.96/hr to $32.44/hr) based on the University System of Maryland (USM) Pay Program. Facilities Management provides free uniforms and shoes for skilled trades positions. Tools are provided for use on the job as well as a UMBC owned vehicle to travel to worksites on campus. UMBC also assists with keeping trades licenses current and obtaining needed training. Opportunities for shift differential, on-call, and overtime pay may be available.
