Plumber
Job Summary
Under general supervision, perform journey-level work in the installation, maintenance, inspection, modification, remodel, and repair of mechanical plumbing equipment and fixtures for water, steam, sewage, and perform all other related work as required. This position is required to maintain, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace and test plumbing systems; assemble, install and repair pumps, pipes, fittings, and fixtures; cut, thread and weld pipes; assemble and install valves, pipe fittings and pipes; inspect completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements and compliance with applicable building and safety codes and regulations; inspect related work performed by contractors; estimate cost, time and materials for plumbing projects; participate in the maintenance and operations of a plumbing shop; clean, maintain and service tools and equipment used in the performance of duties. This position is designated as essential personnel.
Minimum Qualifications:
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENCY; OR DEMONSTRATED POSSESSION OF THE COMPETENCIES NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE WORK. SOME POSITIONS MAY REQUIRE SPECIAL LICENSES OR CERTIFICATION. OPTIONAL GUIDELINES: EXPERIENCE IN THE TRADE AREA RELATED TO THE AREA OF ASSIGNMENT MAY BE SUBSTITUTED ON A YEAR-FOR-YEAR BASIS.
Preferred Qualifications:
Plumbing and backflow license preferred but not required.
