Major Duties
- Implement community policing concepts through quantifiable and measurable activities to create police/community partnerships, thereby gaining confidence and building credibility with the campus community.
- Patrol the campus by vehicle, motorcycle, bicycle, or on foot for criminal activity, traffic and parking violations, safety hazards, and citizens in need of assistance. Conduct crime suppression activities.
- Police officers respond to and provide medical assistance with equipment such as First Aid kits, AEDs, etc., to injured and ill people on campus and at traffic accidents near or on campus.
- Promotes programs and services, such as participating at fairs and orientations, conducting risk reduction presentations to students, faculty, staff, parents, and the greater community…
- Serve as the first to respond to a report of a crime in progress.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Applicants must satisfactorily meet the current employment standards of the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) and CSUN Minimum Standards of Employment and Training.
- Must be free of any felony convictions: have good moral character; be a high school graduate or equivalent; meet pre-employment requirements, including physical exam with drug testing, psychological exam, and pass a comprehensive POST background investigation.
- Eligible to be a peace officer in the State of California.
- Successful completion of the California POST Basic Course and possession of a California POST Basic Certificate are required.
- LICENSE: CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS A VALID CALIFORNIA DRIVER'S LICENSE.
