At UNSW, policy shapes how the University delivers real impact. As a Policy Officer in the Division of Societal Impact, Equity and Engagement, you will help drive meaningful change by strengthening how policies support equity, governance and community outcomes.

Focusing on the Information Governance Policy Suite, your work will ensure policies are clear, compliant and practical, enabling better decision-making across the University. You will contribute to a more inclusive and accountable institution, with influence that reaches across staff, students and broader society.

This role is offered on a part-time basis, with flexibility in days and hours.

Responsibilities:

You will play a central role in delivering high-quality policy outcomes across a complex environment, including:

  • Leading the development and implementation of information governance policies and guidance materials
  • Conducting research and analysis to support evidence-based policy development
  • Writing clear, accessible policy documents and supporting resources
  • Managing policy projects from planning through to delivery
  • Engaging and consulting with stakeholders and subject matter experts
  • Providing strategic policy advice to senior leadership on interpretation, risk and compliance
  • Reviewing and improving existing policies, frameworks and procedures
  • Supporting alignment of policy across multiple divisions

Who You Are:

You are an experienced policy professional who can translate complex information into clear and practical outcomes. You are confident working in a large organisation and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.

You bring:

  • Experience in public policy, governance or a related field
  • Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written communication skills, including policy drafting
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and consultation skills
  • Experience delivering or supporting policy projects
  • Sound judgement, discretion and a collaborative approach
