Synthetic Biology redesigns the existing or creates novo biological systems, exploring the mechanism and rules of life, and developing the next-generation biotechnology that is believed to “change the world”. The Faculty of Synthetic Biology and the Institute of Synthetic Biology under SIAT adopt a two-in-one operation mode, featuring with interdisciplinary teaching and state-of-the-art research platforms including a unique synthetic biology facility and international talent pool. Position 1: Chair professors, Full-Professors, Associate professors (Tenure Track)

Employment Type: Full-time, Teaching and research

Job Summary: The Faculty has been proposed to set up two degree-granting departments, including Department of Biological Sciences, Department of Engineering Biology, a Center for Advanced Interdisciplinary Synthetic Biology Research, and 10 associated special training programs with students’ interest driven, including quantitative synthetic biology, genome engineering, cell engineering, molecular virology, microbial synthetic biology, information synthetic biology, synthetic immunology, synthetic organ engineering, materials synthetic biology, Automated and intelligent biosystems design.

Job-specific Responsibilities:

1. Undertake teaching work and guide the study of undergraduates and postgraduates;
2. Undertake teaching reform, curriculum design or teaching laboratory planning;
3. Understand the frontiers of the subject’s development and the state of technological progress, and integrate it into teaching;
4. Guide the teaching work;
5. Undertake scientific research work, organize, lead or participate in the scientific research team as a key member to complete important scientific research projects, or complete the transformation of important scientific research achievements;
6. Participate in various activities of the faculty and the institute of SIAT, and make suggestions for the construction and development of the faculty and the institute of SIAT;
7. Complete other tasks assigned by the faculty and the institute of SIAT.

Qualifications:

1. Have a doctor’s degree;
2. Scientific and research experience and academic level should be equal to or above that of a tenured associate professor in internationally renowned universities and institutes;
3. Can work full-time in SIAT;
4. Able to undertake the teaching of professional foundation classes and develop frontier courses of disciplines
5. Have the experience and ability to hold important scientific and technologies projects at national level;
6. Fluently use Chinese and English.

Position 2: Associate professors (Non-tenure track)

Employment Type: Full-time, Teaching and research

Qualifications:

1. Have a doctor’s degree, generally have post-doc experience, generally not over 40 years old;
2. Scientific and research experience and academic level should be equal to or above that of an associate professor in internationally renowned universities and institutes;
3. Can work full-time in SIAT;
4. Able to teach professional foundation classes for undergraduates and graduates;
5. Have the experience and ability to host scientific and technological projects at provincial level and above.
