About the Job
We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our research team in the area of preclinical anti-parasitic drug discovery. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research projects, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and play a key role in advancing the lab’s research agenda. The Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences (VBS) is dedicated to pioneering research, delivering top-tier education, and engaging with the community to provide exceptional services.
Work Location
This is an in-person position. The lab is located in the Veterinary Sciences Building in room 129 and rooms 137C, D and G on the St. Paul Campus.
Work Schedule
Work hours are Monday – Friday, daytime hours. Some hours on weekends/evenings may be needed as experiments require.
Primary Responsibilities
(75%) Research
- Design and conduct independent research into the anti-parasitic activity of natural compounds and conduct experiments to identify compound targets.
- Maintain accurate documentation of research activities and results.
- Conduct in vivo mouse experiments to propagate parasites and test in vivo activity of compounds.
(20%) Communication
- Publish high-impact research findings in peer-reviewed journals
- Present research results at conferences.
- Contribute to grant applications.
- Establish collaborations with internal and external research partners.
(5%) Supervision
- Train and supervise students and volunteers in the lab
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- DVM and/or Ph.D. in biological and biomedical sciences
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience handling BSL2 pathogens.
- Experience with mammalian cell culture, immunohistochemistry, in vitro parasitic models of infection
- Experience with animal handling and husbandry (rodents)
- Good verbal and written communication skills
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $61,008 - $70,000 ; depending on education/qualifications/experience
