Advertised Job Summary
Lead experimental research on the development of ferromagnetic catalysts for on-demand hydrogen production. In addition, it focuses on establishing the scientific basis for the co-design of catalysts that can be heated electrically through induction heating.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in area of research specialty.
Preferred Qualifications
A PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related discipline. Experience with packed bed reactor testing and characterization of heterogeneous catalysts. Experience with magnetic induction heating systems and collaborating with theoretical/computational catalysis researchers.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to train others in experimental methods. Efficient communication. Time management skills.
Job Duties
- Responsible for the synthesis and modification of ferromagnetic heterogeneous catalysts, including the determination and implementation of appropriate catalyst formation and pre-treatment protocols to support project-specific performance requirements. - Perform catalyst activity testing, kinetic evaluation, and stability assessments as part of routine responsibilities; build and modify reactor rigs as needed to support evolving project requirements and experimental objectives. (Essential Function: Yes, Percentage of Time: 30)
- Conduct in situ and operando catalyst characterization during activation and operation phases, utilizing shared campus and national laboratory facilities to support advanced analytical techniques and ensure comprehensive data collection. (Essential Function: Yes, Percentage of Time: 20)
- Communicate research findings efficiently and consistently within a multidisciplinary, multi-institutional team, ensuring timely dissemination and integration of results throughout highly collaborative projects. (Essential Function: Yes, Percentage of Time: 10)
- Support the wider dissemination of research findings through presentations, publications, and outreach activities, and report findings promptly to the supervisor. (Essential Function: Yes, Percentage of Time: 10)
