May be responsible for a single highly technical and complex piece of research equipment. 4. May review and evaluate the effectiveness of personnel. 5. May plan for and assign personnel to projects under control. 6. Operates with latitude for unreviewed action. 7. May receive general supervision conferring with higher levels only in unusual situations. 8. Performs other job-related duties as required. The department of Earth & Atmospheric Science (EAS) at the University of Houston is seeking a postdoctoral that Possesses, understands, and applies a comprehensive knowledge in area of specialization. Develops understanding and skills to allow for completion of assignments that cross fields of specialization. Develops leadership and management skills. The Flynn group is in search of a postdoctoral researcher to lead efforts in supporting the Atmospheric Science and Chemistry mEasurement NeTwork (ASCENT) site at the University of Houston. The chosen candidate will lead the instrument operations including hands on activities such as QA/QC checks and maintenance as well as data processing, analysis, and leading publications. Candidates should have a PhD in atmospheric science, atmospheric chemistry, chemistry, physics, engineering, or related fields, be well versed in the operation of aerosol instrumentation, subsequent data handling, and have a strong background in aerosol science. Experience with Aerosol Mass Spectrometers and/or Aerosol Chemical Speciation Monitors is strongly preferred. This position is funded solely by grant funding for at least 12 months, and extension is contingent upon additional grant funding. MQ: Requires singular knowledge of a specialized advanced professional discipline or the highest level of general business knowledge, normally acquired through attainment of a directly job-related terminal degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed. No experience is required.
