Description

The Ralph O’Connor Sustainable Energy Institute (ROSEI) is looking to hire a post doctoral fellow to support an externally funded research project focused on transmission expansion planning and the integration of large emerging loads. The postdoc will collaborate with federal agencies, PJM, state energy offices, utilities, and other stakeholders to develop analytical frameworks, production cost modeling tools, scenario-based evaluations, and documented recommendations. The position requires the ability to perform rigorous quantitative analyses while effectively engaging a broad range of technical and policy stakeholders.

Qualifications

Ph.D. required in one of the following fields: Electrical Engineering (Power Systems, Energy Systems, or Optimization focus), Operations Research / Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Economics/Energy Economics, or Public Policy with strong quantitative modeling of energy systems. Demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following areas:

  • Power system planning or operations modeling
  • Production cost modeling (PCM)
  • Transmission expansion planning and techno-economic analysis
  • Optimization methods for energy systems
  • Model development (e.g., GitHub maintenance/support)

Strong communication skills in English (written, verbal, and presentation) are required. We prefer candidates with publications in a diverse set of journals. Cross-disciplinary publication is a strength.
