The Prescription Drug Misuse Education and Research (PREMIER)
Center at the University of Houston College of Pharmacy invites
applications for a postdoctoral fellow in health economics and
modeling. During this 12-month position, the successful
postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity to receive
comprehensive training and unique research experience in health
economic evaluation and decision modeling from our
multidisciplinary faculty. The fellow is encouraged to develop
his/her own research ideas and career development grant application
during the fellowship with support from the PREMIER Center faculty.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct literature reviews and meta-analyses.
- Design, develop, and validate decision-analytic simulation
models (e.g., decision trees, Markov models, microsimulation, and
agent-based models) to conduct cost-effectiveness analyses.
- Program using disease modeling software.
- Lead analyses of economic, healthcare utilization, and large
real-world data.
- Perform biostatistical and/or econometric analyses.
- Draft reports, abstracts, and manuscripts, and present research
findings at scientific conferences.
- Assist in grant-writing activities.
By the start of the fellowship, the candidate should have a
doctoral degree in health economics, decision science,
epidemiology, public health, or a related field. Experience in
health decision science, biostatistics, simulation modeling, or
large real-world database analysis is desirable. Working knowledge
of statistical software (Stata, SAS, or R) and disease modeling
software (TreeAge, AnyLogic, etc.) is required.
The PREMIER Center is a multi-disciplinary research center that
has active funded projects that span multiple stages of the
translational research continuum. This fellowship is housed in the
PREMIER Center, but we have strong collaboration with the
Pharmaceutical
Health Outcomes & Policy, Pharmacy
Practice & Translational Research, and Department
of Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences. Applicants with
experience in clinical and/or translational research are strongly
encouraged to apply. Experience in research topics related to the
mission of the PREMIER Center is preferred.
