Job Summary

The University of Groningen is seeking a post-doctoral researcher for a 32-month position in the HyTROS project, focusing on public acceptability of renewable energy strategies, including hydrogen production, transport, and storage. The role involves research into technical safety standards and public participation in decision-making for green hydrogen infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on the effects of public participation in decision-making on public acceptability of renewable energy policies and projects.
  • Assess existing technical safety standards and regulatory frameworks for hydrogen infrastructure.
  • Develop recommendations for new or updated standards, such as NEN, EN, ISO, or PGS publications.
  • Manage collaborations with non-academic partners like industry stakeholders in a multi-stakeholder setting.
  • Execute interdisciplinary research with practical implications for the energy transition.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • PhD degree in Energy Law.
  • Relevant publication record in international academic journals, preferably top-tier peer-reviewed ones.
  • Experience with theory-driven research and a focus on practical implications.
  • Strong interest in collaborative interdisciplinary research.
  • Ability to manage partnerships with external entities such as local governments and businesses.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.

What the Employer Offers

  • A full-time position with a starting salary of €4,241 gross per month (salary scale 10 step 4).
  • Excellent secondary terms of employment, including a holiday allowance of 8% and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
  • 232 holiday hours per calendar year for full-time employment.
  • Participation in a pension scheme.
  • A fixed-term contract for 32 months, with a preferred start date of October 1, 2025.
