Post Doctoral Scholar

The Postdoctoral Researcher will pursue specialized research training, education, and experience under the guidance of Dr. Rongxue (Rosie) Wu, MD, PhD, Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery/Cardiology. This NIH-supported position will involve independent and collaborative research focused on inflammation in cardiac ischemia-reperfusion injury, ischemic heart failure, sepsis, and related inflammatory conditions.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and execute experiments of considerable scope and complexity in cardiovascular and endothelial biology.
• Investigate mechanisms of microvascular endothelial dysfunction in heart failure, sepsis, and related inflammatory conditions.
• Utilize in vitro and in vivo models, including mouse models of sepsis (e.g., CLP, LPS), ischemia-reperfusion injury, and vascular injury.
• Perform molecular, cellular, and biochemical assays (e.g., qPCR, Western blotting, immunofluorescence, ECIS, vascular permeability assays).
• Collect, analyze, and interpret complex experimental data supported by NIH and other extramural funding agencies.
• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot new experimental techniques and protocols.
• Participate in research seminars, journal clubs, and collaborative meetings.
• Contribute to manuscript preparation and scientific writing for peer-reviewed publications.
• Assist in the preparation of grant applications, progress reports, and abstracts.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the research mission of the laboratory.

Minimum Qualifications

PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in cardiovascular biology, physiology, molecular biology, or a related field.

Preferred Qualification

• Experience with endothelial cell biology, vascular permeability, inflammation, or cardiovascular disease models.
• Strong motivation for pursuing an academic research career.
