We are pleased to announce an opportunity for Post Doc in Applied Mathematics to join our research project team entitled “Mathematical Modeling of Diseases Using Fractional Operators and Nature-Inspired Optimization Algorithms” and belonging to the President Intramural Research Fund. The objective of this project is to develop/formulate integer and new fractional order mathematical models of diseases to predict disease progression and identify key factors influencing the spread and impact of diseases. We will explore the existence and boundedness of dynamical and new fractional models using the Lipschitz condition. The sensitivity analysis of the parameters that appeared in the models will be done and sensitive parameters will be highlighted for better understanding of the problem. Reproduction number R_0 will be determined. Different numerical schemes such as Adams-Bashforth Moulton and fourth-order Runge-Kutta (RK-4) schemes for R_01 will be utilized to find the solutions. For better understanding and control of vector-borne diseases, the new fractional-order models will be developed to deal with the transmission of bacterium Wolbachia. The mathematical models will be solved utilizing the nature-inspired artificial neural network approach.

Position Details:

The position is open to in-person candidates. The salary is 2000 usd/month.

The duties are the followings:

  • Understanding the real-world scenarios and formulate the mathematical models of integer and fractional order.
  • Acquisition of real-world data from databases.
  • Data Cleaning and estimate the parameter using the data.
  • Formulation of the new models based on the real-world scenarios.
  • Implementation of the numerical schemes to solve the proposed model.
  • Application of different fractional derivatives and discussion on the optimal fractional value using various fractional operators.
  • Existence and Uniqueness of the model.
  • Positivity of the solutions.
  • Stability Analysis of the proposed models using different methods, like Routh Hurwitz Criteria, Lyapunov and Ulam stability.
  • Discussion on the interpretation of the results obtained by the model.

Start date: January 2026

Duration: Till August 31, 2026 (with possibility of renewal)

Qualifications: Candidates must hold a PhD in Applied Mathematics.
