PostDoc In Geometric Learning & Differential Geometry
We are looking for a Post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Mathematics & Computer Science of the Eindhoven University of Technology in the field of “Geometric Learning for Image Analysis”.
The two year postdoc position is part of VICI Project (VI.C. 202-031, PI: R.Duits) and will preferably start around 01-12-2025 and requires knowledge of geometric image processing and machine learning.
Information
As Post-doctoral Researcher within VICI Project "Geometric Learning for Image Analysis" your main tasks are:
- Carry out research in the research group Geometric Learning and Differential Geometry within the Centre for Analysis, Scientific Computing and Applications (CASA) of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at TUe, supervised by principal investigator Remco Duits,
- Publish research results in renowned journals and conferences, focusing on: A) Equivariant, PDE-based image processing and machine learning for industrial image analysis (in the semiconductor industry), B) Automatic geometric vessel tree tracking and analysis in medical image analysis applications,
- Assist in the supervision of PhD and MSc students and collaborate with (health) tech partners,
- Report on the results in project deliverables, papers and conference contributions.
As the VICI-project had a successful mid-term report tackling the milestones with much output there is freedom for creative new adjacent research directions. This position is primarily a research position, though teaching experience can be obtained on a voluntary basis.
Requirements
- A PhD degree in applied mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or applied physics.
- A research oriented attitude with affinity for advanced formal mathematics (analysis/ geometry), applied differential geometry and machine learning;
- Solid publication record in image analysis, scientific computing or machine learning.
- Knowledge and practical experience in at least 3 of the following areas: Image processing, partial differential equations, scientific computing, deep learning.
- Solid programing skills. Knowledge of Python, Tensorflow/Pytorch, and Mathematica.
