Workplace: Department of Condensed Matter Physics, Faculty of Science, Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic

Type of Contract: temporary position with 1-year contract (with possible extension), non-academic

Working Hours: 1.0 FTE (full-time employment of 40 hours per week)

Expected Start Date: 01.01.2026 or negotiable with respect to immigration timelines for non-EU candidates

Pay: CZK 55,000 per month

About the Workplace: Masaryk University is a modern, dynamic university in the Czech Republic with ten faculties. The Faculty of Science is a research-oriented faculty offering education in sciences and is the most productive scientific unit of Masaryk University. The Department of Condensed Matter Physics is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate for the project QM4ST, focusing on magnetism of nano-oxide thin films.

Job Description:

  • Participate in selecting specific problems (with professors of the Department).
  • Use and be responsible for the PLD system, assisting students.
  • Perform VSM, XRD, XPS measurements on materials and analyze data.
  • Write papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Present results at international conferences.

Skills and Qualifications: The applicant should be a researcher with a PhD in experimental Condensed Matter Physics or related field (within the last 7 years), have a good publishing record (at least two publications in Web of Science or Scopus in the last three years), strong background in Solid-State Physics and Materials Science, at least two years of experience with PLD, and good English communication skills.
