ADAM MICKIEWICZ UNIVERSITY, POZNAN announces a competiton the position of PostDoc (post-doctoral fellowship) in the project “Critical points in the boreal peat bog ecosystems and the perennial permafrost in West Siberia in the conditions of a global climate crisis and increasing fire risk” number 2021/41/B/ST10/00060, regarding research on peat bog ecosystems in Europe (Poland, Estonia, Norway).
We seek a motivated associate for a post-doc at the Climate Change Ecology Research Unit, Faculty of Geographical and Geological Sciences of the University of Adam Mickiewicz, in the OPUS project financed by the National Science Center, Poland. The research is based on peat cores obtained from peatlands in Poland, Estonia and Norway. The successful candidate will be responsible for data analysis and article writing. Within the contract, successful candidates will be able to broaden their competencies in proxy analyses critical for peatland palaeoecology, particularly pollen, testate amoebae or non-pollen palynomorphs. Due to the unavailability of Siberian areas for research, the activities were moved to Europe – mainly Poland, Estonia and Norway.

Skills/Qualifications
The competition is open to individuals who meet the requirements specified in Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2025, item 1571, Article 113 as amended) and who meet the following requirements:
- doctoral degree in the discipline of Earth Sciences, Biology or related,
- excellent knowledge of computer techniques used in geography and ecology
- very good knowledge of English,
- publication achievements (preferably international),
- teamwork skills – openness, tolerance, good communication skills,
- Candidates must meet the criteria specified in the terms and conditions of the NCN OPUS competition.

- Scientific competence (documented publication output of national and international scope, leadership and participation in research projects financed from external sources, participation in national and international scientific conferences) - 25 points
